In many countries in the world, due to the influence of factors such as different geographical locations, extreme natural conditions and their respective economic conditions, and also because of the objective fact that a considerable number of natural grass fields must be equipped with ceilings and other facilities, natural grass The laying and maintenance of turf has become more difficult. Under such specific objective conditions, artificial turf came into being and showed its great performance and use advantages.

1. What is artificial grass

Artificial grass, also known as artificial turf, is a kind of material in which grass-like synthetic fibers are mechanically woven and implanted into a woven base cloth, and a fixed coating is applied on the back and laid on the base layer. Artificial grass has a high degree of simulation, the length and shape of the grass can be selected on demand, and the paving is convenient. At present, it has been widely used in sports and leisure places such as football fields and golf courses, and is also widely used in courtyard and urban greening.

Artificial turf is mainly composed of a three-layer structure. The first layer is the base layer. The base layer is required to be firm, non-deformable, smooth and impermeable. Above the base layer is a backing layer, usually composed of rubber or foam plastic. Three layers - the surface layer, which is the grass fiber and the filling layer, this layer must be glued to the backing layer with latex. Compared with the high cost of laying and maintenance of natural grass, artificial grass is widely used for its advantages such as affordable price, good durability, and easy laying and maintenance.

2. Classification and development stages of artificial grass

With the development of the market, artificial grass has undergone great changes in materials, technology, construction, etc. The purpose of these changes is to make artificial grass closer to natural grass in terms of sports performance, which can be roughly divided into the following stages :

The first stage: the main material is nylon 6 (polycaprolactam), which is drawn and inserted into the base fabric. It looks like a carpet, has poor elasticity and is expensive;

The second stage: It is mainly made of polypropylene (PP) material, which is also made of extruded wire and inserted into the base cloth. After paving, it is filled with quartz sand particles. The hardness is high, but the price is cheap;

The third stage: mainly polyethylene (PE) material, which is also made of extruded wire and inserted into the base cloth. After paving, it is filled with quartz sand and rubber particles. It has the elasticity of natural grass and has great sports performance. for improvement;

The fourth stage: Taking FIFA certification as the standard, focusing on the construction of system engineering such as foundation and construction. In this stage, in addition to mesh products, there are also straight and curved products. The materials are PE and PP mixed, PE and nylon. Mixed, the sports performance is further enhanced;

The fifth stage: mainly monofilament grass, in addition to the pursuit of sports performance, but also to pursue a more ideal appearance, and pay more attention to the construction of the system;

The sixth stage: mainly curly grass, it is a sports and leisure grass specially tailored for noble sports such as gate courts and golf.

3. Performance test of artificial grass

With the acceleration of the renovation of various sports venues and leisure places, there will be more and more construction projects using artificial grass. How to choose high-quality artificial grass in construction to ensure that the standards of artificial grass meet the functional and environmental protection requirements of venue activities , which is an important concern of construction units when choosing artificial grass fields.

Relevant state departments have also successively issued the national standard GB/T 20394 "Artificial Grass for Sports" and the industry standard QB/T 5591 "Artificial Turf for Leisure" to ensure a unified standard for the quality inspection of artificial grass.

By consulting the relevant standard documents, it can be seen that a qualified high-quality artificial grass needs to meet the requirements of softness and comfort, sliding, cushioning, wear resistance, water permeability, flame retardant, anti-corrosion, anti-ultraviolet, anti-aging, color, environmental performance and various physical properties at the same time. Performance Testing.
